Although we haven't had much to cheer about these days in New York regarding Hockey (Rangers have missed the play-offs the last 7 years and I don't count the Devils or Islanders as "New York" teams) hockey is still the best sport to watch in the playoffs.
Where else can you watch guys beat the crap out of each other for 7 games, then shake hands and hug after the series ends. A few years ago I remember watching a playoff game between the Flyers and Red Wings (I think) and this guy Trent Klatt CRUSHED an opponent, it was his brother-in-law and he nearly decapitated him. When they interviewed the opponent's wife, she said she was not mad at Trent, the fact that he hit her husband "was just business". That is why the game is the best game on....
