As promised here is my annual television Fall Preview, part one of five. I will take a look at the four major networks (yes, Fox should be considered a major now), UPN and the WB. We will steer clear of the cable channels, even though there are some great programs on Bravo, E!, VH1, USA, TNT and The Discovery Channel. We are going to stick to the meat and potatoes of television, the networks.
Here are the System requirements for this Fall: TiVo (minimum 35 hours), an abundance of time between 8-11 pm every night and the ability to change from drama to comedy mode faster than you can say, "Who keeps giving Yes Dear another chance?" If you can do that, I can work with you to come up with the optimal television schedule for this Fall.
Before we begin we all need to take a moment of silence for Joan of Arcadia. My wife is not taking the cancellation of this program very well, especially after the dramatic season (series) finale last year. She is hoping that the WB would pick up Joan and team it with Seventh Heaven on Monday nights. Actually, who am I kidding, I am hoping they would do this. Come on, Joan was a feel good show, we can all use a little Joan every once in a while.
On the Menu today is Monday. This is a very tricky night early in the season. Football fans have Monday Night football and the 9:00pm time slot is more competitive than College Week on Jeopardy. So let's get down to the nitty gritty and take a look at what we have.
