How much are the yankees paying him? According to ESPN.com, he's making $9 million this year. $9 million to play triple-A ball! If they should ship him down to the minors, then why are the Yankees holding on to that washup Lofton (who's making a *sparse* $3 million) and sending a budding star and fan favorite, Bubba Crosby, down to the minors instead?

Well, the short answer is because prospects don't get playing time in New York. If you are a prospect (Like Eric Milton, Nick Johnson, Juan Rivera, Cristian Guzman, Etc.) you best chance of playing is by getting traded to another team. George believes in veterans leading the team. Prospects are just used as chips to get other veteran players. Contreras signed a 4-year $32 million contract. This year he makes $9 million of that.
