This week, since there were so many bad performances out there, we are going to look at the 5 worst hitters and 5 worst pitchers. I need your help on the last one, Reggie Sanders.
Pitchers:
5. Dontrelle Willis Florida Marlins:After an incredible start to the season the Marlins and Willis have both come down to Earth. I think Willis will rebound, but this was a bad week for him. 5 ER, 8 HA, 2 BBI, 5.0 INN, 3 K, L
4. Matt Herges San Francisco Giants: I never thought that Matt Herges was the answer in the Giants bullpen, but he did very well in the first month. I think he might have woken up one morning and said, "Hey wait a minute this isnt a dream, this is really happening, I am a big league closer. Wait, I am a big league closer?";4 ER, S, 4 HA, 2 BBI, BS, 1.0 INN
(see link for the top 3 underachieving pitchers)
Hitters-
5. Raul Mondesi OF Pittsburgh Pirates: The good news for Mondesi this week was that the Domincan government decided to lift the court order agasinst him, which had his salary tied up in escrow since Febraury. The bad news is that he still isn't a very good baeball player. 0-10, 6 KO, 2 BB, CS, Yikes!
4. Aubrey Huff 3B Tampa Bay Devil Rays: Huff was one of the league's best hitters last season and an up and coming star. Rumor has it that he is in a severe depression over the ending of "Friends" this season. Apparently his locker is an homage to Chandler, Ross and Joey, and once a week he watches the movie "Ed" starring Matt LeBlanc.

3. Paul Abbott Tampa Bay Devil Rays: Like a moth to light we were all lured in by his fantastic start this year. This week he blinded us with 2 awful starts. 11 ER, 16 HA, 5 BBI, 9.2 INN, 3 K, 2 L. Actually one of his starts wasn't a total waste, but he still got the "L"
2. Mike Maroth Detroit Tigers: He had two starts and looked pretty decent in the first one. The second one was a disaster. Overall he has these numbers for the week. 13 ER, 12 HA, 10 BBI, 9.1 INN, 4 K, somehow he escaped with 2 no decisions.
1. Arthur Rhodes Oakland Athletics: He did not look good all week long. Blowing a save, getting a loss and then hurting his shoulder. 2 ER, 5 HA, 3 BBI, BS, 3.0 INN, 2 K, L. He is stil lthe closer in Oakland, but it might not be before long until Jim Mecir or Chad Bradford start getting their shot to close.

3. A.J. Pierzynski C San Francisco: An anonymous teammate said the " He (A.J.) is a cancer on this team." I don't like using that word so lightly, it has no place in sports. However, A.J. has a bad attitude and couldn't hit the water if he fell out of a boat right now. It doesn't help when your teammates hate you. 1-8 with a single and a strike-out. Could be be moving anytime soon?
2. Paul Konerko 1B Chicago White Sox: Last year The phenomenon known as the "Konerko Funk" didn't happend until after the all-star break, could it be coming earlier this year? 1-18, R, 1B, 8 KO, 2 BB
1. Reggie Sanders OF Saint Louis Cardinals: Feel free to fill in the punch line here..."He strikes out more often than____________" I am looking for a good one. Fire away. 2-19, 2 1B, 8 KO, before that he had an 0-18 stint in which he struck out 11 times.
